Police and witnesses say Mitchell shot Timothy Michael Demastes in the home on Freeman Street, then fled on foot, and surprised an elderly couple inside their nearby home. He took cash and keys to a pickup parked outside, then fled in the truck, police say. The pickup was later found abandonded in Linda, about two and a half miles from the murder scene. 15 days later, Mitchell alledgedly shot a man at a Lyon's restaurant in Sacramento, and fled with two women in a Cadillac Esclade sport utility vehicle. He's also wanted for assaulting and shooting his girlfriend in the face and body in Riverside County. Police consider him armed, dangerous, and liable to get angry with very little provocation. America's Most Wanted airs the segment about Mitchell on Saturday, April 14 at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times. Marysville police will be standing by as the program airs in Northern California on Fox 40 (KTXL) in Sacramento, Fox 30 (KCVU) Chico, and Fox 2 (KTVU) San Francisco. It is the second time Langdell has supplied footage to the Fox network crime-stopper program. After learning of the search for a missing Yuba City boy as the search was being organized, he provided footage of Michael Lyons and his parents to Sacramento television stations before the Yuba City youngster's body was discovered in the Feather River bottoms a mile or so from Lyons's home. More recently, he provided stations with exclusive video interviews of slain Grass Valley restaurant manager Mike Markle's mother, his former wife and of the somber scene and stunned patrons at the Yuba City Lyon's restaurant where Markle had worked before being transferred to the chain's Grass Valley location. "That was pretty tough, since Mike was a student in my ROP Radio-TV class at Marysville High, and I know Margie Markle from covering the Marysville Unified School Board where she's a trustee," Langdell says. "My wife and I were waited on by Mike early Christmas morning. What a shock!" When the 1997 Willams fire hit the Yuba County foothills, Langdell was the first news person on the scene. "ABC opened its Sunday night broadcast with shots of flames on both sides of Marysville Road that I took with the camera one hand, and the other on the wheel." It also used portions of an interview with (then) Yuba County Sheriff Gary Tindel, as he described how he and deputies almost got caught in the fire while trying to get people to evacuate. "As he talks, you see the fire coming over the ridgelines in the background, consuming more acres, homes and businesses." A Yuba-Sutter resident since 1965, Langdell operates a media production, advertising and marketing business in Marysville. His news background includes stints as a radio and television reporter and cameraman at the State Capitol in Sacramento and with a number of Sacramento radio and television stations.
