The teachings of Jesus form the thread for October's offerings.

For Children:

In the Storykeepers Series, (VCN-303), Episode 5 tells the story of how a secret search for Justin's father on a Roman slave ship leads to high sea adventures for Ben, Helena and the children. Justin, Ben and Helena are fictional characters from the time of the early church. Ben and his group find themselves suddenly headed for batle against a rebel slave ship. Justin shows one of the slaves the meaning of self-sacrifice. Jesus' stories included are "The healing of the paralytuc"; and the parables of "The Pharisee and the sinner", and "The house built on a rock."

For Juniors and Junior High students:

The Beatitudes for Young People Series (VCJ-310) uses the image of a braided circle in which each strand points to one way to happiness. Through a story, boys and girls exemplify Beatitude living in different situations. Each Beatitude is then explored through the response of one of the characers in the story. Children are challenged to discover ways to live the Beatitudes in their everyday lives.

For Adults:

In A Fresh Look at the Beatitudes (VCJ-812) Ken Bailey shares his wealth of knowledge of Middle Eastern culture in this scholarly presentation of the Beatitudes. Ken is Noted Research Professor of Middle Eastern New Testament Studies at the Tantur Ecumenical Institute for Theological Research in Jerusalem. He compares the Beatitudes as they are presented in Matthew and Luke. There are two videos in the series.

The Ecumenical Media Resource Center is supported by a number of denominations, the largest of which is the California-Nevada Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Annual funding from the Conference helps subsidize memberships for Conference churches.
