In an announcement, the Conference Communications Committee said, The Communications Committee met July 29 to discuss implementation of the Conference Communications Audit recommendations.
One of the more significant recommendations the national churchs Communications Resourcing Team made--from your input--was for the Conference to publish its own newspaper, locally.
To make that kind of change immediately is beyond our scope at present. We are not quite ready to do that. But, beginning October 1, we will start offering an interim publication.
This will be sent without charge to all our current Review subscribers. In the format of Newscope, It will incorporate news of our districts and events within the Conference. In addition, it will begin to incorporate some of the items currently distributed in the Coordinated Mail envelope.
This publication will be mailed to all of those currently receiving the Coordinated Mail packet and to our current list of Review subscribers. This new publication format will also be available electronically.
If you are a current subscriber and have e-mail, please send us your e-mail address with a message subject of Heres my e-mail address, and we will be glad to include you in the database we will be developing to meet your needs. The message should be sent to signmeup@calnevumc.org. We recognize that while our committee sets into motion all the planning necessary to publish locally, that we need an interim publication. We hope it meets your needs and that you continue to provide input from your local church to share with others. We have a lot to learn from and share and with each other.
If you have any questions, please direct them to Conference Communications Committee Chair Aurelius Lindeen at 14144 Tahoe View Dr., Grass Valley, CA, 95945. She can be reached by e-mail at amlin@gv.net.
Signed/Communications Committee.
Developing a method of automating e-mail subscriptions is also being prepared, so people who are not on either current list are able to easily subscribe to the electronic versions.
The committee hopes that the publication that replaces the Review will be ready in six to eight months.
That will give time to assess how the new forms of information distribution are working, and for the recently approved Communications Coordinator to be hired and to settle in. A search committee has been named by the Conference Council on Ministries.
